YouTube Partner Grants: $5 Million For The Video Web Ecosystem

YouTube announced today that it is establishing the YouTube Partner Grants program and will invest five million dollars across select new and emerging YouTube partners.

According to the Press release, YouTube’s goal is to “catalyze the creation of new ideas and production models from some of our most innovative and original content partners for the benefit and advancement of the entire industry.”

Looks like YouTube is dipping its toe in the water to evolve the studio/network TV system. Who better to invest in quality content across its massive distribution system than YouTube? We see this as an important move on the part of YouTube and in recognition of the Video Web as the ecosystem requires a blend of quality, diversity and profitability in order to succeed.
